Peach picking in New Jersey is a fun summer activity to add to your bucket list! It is a wonderful sign of summer. The first bite of a freshly picked peach is the best! The Garden State is actually the fourth largest peach producer in the United States! There are so many pick-your-own farms throughout the state that you can visit to pick Jersey peaches. This activity is perfect for the whole family and great for a fun weekend activity. In this guide, I will be sharing the best farms to go peach picking in New Jersey.

If you are wondering when is the best time to go peach picking in New Jersey, it typically spans from late June to early September. If you prefer slightly tart and firm peaches, I recommend peach picking in late June to early July. The peak season of peach picking in New Jersey is from the end of July to mid-August. If you want sweet and juicy peaches, I recommend going peach picking from late August to early September.

Northern New Jersey Peach Picking Farms

Alstede Farms

Alstede Farms is a popular farm to visit in New Jersey. It is located in Chester, NJ. They offer a variety of fruits and vegetables that you can pick yourself in their fields and orchards, including picking your own peaches! Their peach season is from early July to mid-September. You can also pick your own fruit like strawberries, blueberries, apples, pumpkins and more!

This farm has a bunch of different activities and special events throughout the year. In addition to pick-your-own, they have live entertainment, children’s activities, friendly farm animals, an adventure maze, a farm store, homemade ice cream and even wine tastings provided by Tomasello Winery. During the holiday season, they even sell Christmas trees, wreaths, and other holiday decor.

Alstede Farms also has fun farm events and festivals. One of their cool events is a pancake brunch, which includes a farm to table buffet, wagon ride, and admission to their fields and orchards. They have blueberry and peach pancakes in the summer and pumpkin pancakes in the fall.

Demarest Farms

Demarest Farms is a family-owned farm located in Hillsdale, NJ. They offer a variety of activities like peach picking, apple picking, and pumpkin picking. They also have a farm market that sells plants, fresh produce, freshly baked goods like apple cider donuts and pies. They also have a farm animal petting zoo!

Throughout the year they also have fun events like an orchard light show during Halloween and the holidays and their annual Texas style BBQ event.

Their u-pick peach season opens up in July and they have different varieties of peaches to choose from.

Hillview Farms

Hillview Farms is a family-owned and operated farm in Gilette, NJ. They have a general store where you can pick up the day’s produce, fresh eggs, and honey. You can also pick your own fruits and vegetables.

Their peach season is in August. They also have blueberries in July, apples in September and October, and pumpkins in October.

Phillips Farm

Phillips Farm is a family-owned farm that is nestled in the scenic Delaware River Valley in Milford, NJ. They have two pick-your-own locations. One is at the main farm located at 91 Crabapple Hill Road and the other is at the farm market located at 564 Milford-Warren Glen Road. There are different crops at each location. They are only two miles apart so it’s easy to visit both locations on the same trip.

You can pick your own fruit, vegetables, flowers, and pumpkins. Their peach season is in July and August. They don’t charge an entrance fee, but they have a $5 picking minimum per person. All fruits and vegetables are sold by the pound. You can sign up for their weekly emails to get the most complete pick-your-own information. They also have their own app to help guide you around the farm and orchards.

You can also shop at their local farm market for their fresh fruits and vegetables, which is open year-round seven days a week. They also attend a bunch of farmer’s markets in New York City, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. You can even find their produce on seasonal menus in New York City and local restaurants.

Race Farm

Race Farm is a fourth generation farm in Blairstown, NJ and the motto that they stand for is Food Family Fun. They have a wide variety of fruits and veggies for picking including peaches, tomatoes, eggplant, basil, sweet corn, and beans. There is also no admission fee. Free hayrides are available on weekends and you are welcome to pack a picnic and relax in their beautiful picnic area.

At Race Farm, they make their own products in their Harvest Kitchen. You can buy one of their delicious and homemade soups. They also have a Garden Center where they offer fresh produce, cider vinegar, homemade jams, fresh milk, cream, ice cream, meats, pastas, and dessert.

Stoneyfield Orchard

Stoneyfield Orchard is a family-owned and operated farm in Belvidere, NJ. They offer seasonal produce, pre-picked and “pick your own” fruit. They also have a retail farm stand with fresh eggs, cheese, cider, and a wonderful assortment of honeys and preserves. And make sure to visit their cows and other farm animals that are fun for the children to see!

Check out their farm store for their picked fruits and vegetables. They also have apple cider, fresh eggs from their chickens, fresh honey from their bees, handmade goat milk soap, Vermont cheeses, maple syrup, various jarred goods and baking mixes.

Their peach picking season is in July and August. You can also pick sour cherries in mid-June and apples and pears in September and October.

Treelicious Orchards

Treelicious Orchards is a family-owned and operated farm in Northwest New Jersey in Port Murray, NJ. Their orchard sits on the side of some lovely hills so they have spectacular views from the top.

They have a bakery called Just Made Bakery in the Riverside Plaza in Hackettstown, NJ. They sell cider donuts, muffins, cakes, and cookies. You also have to try one of their homemade pies with fresh picked fruit like their peach pie!

They also have a farm market at the orchard where you can purchase their own produce like peaches, apples, plums, pears, corn, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, and more. They even have fresh made pies and donuts.

Von Thun Farms

Von Thun Farms is located in South Brunswick and Washington, NJ. This farm offers everything from flower and berry picking to CSAs to corn mazes and more!

They have peach picking at their Washington location. You can also pick strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, and pumpkins. It is also home to the New Jersey Sunflower Trail.

In their South Brunswick location, you can pick strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, apples, and pumpkins. They even have an on-site farm market!

Southern New Jersey Peach Picking Farms

Battleview Orchards

Battleview Orchards is a family-owned and operated farm in Freehold, NJ. This is one of my favorite farms to go peach picking in New Jersey. Thy are actually the oldest Pick Your Own orchard in New Jersey. You can pick your own strawberries, sour cherries, peaches, nectarines, apples, and pumpkins. Their peach season is approximately from July 5th to August 12th.

They also have a farm store that is open all year where you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables, home baked pies, breads, pastries, apple cider, and their famous apple cider donuts! This is my favorite place to visit in the fall for their warm and fresh apple cider donuts!

Eastmont Orchards

Eastmont Orchards is located in Colts Neck, NJ. You can pick your own peaches and apples and they even have a sunflower field! They have a variety of peaches and their season is from July through September.

There is no general entrance fee, but the hayride costs $5 on the weekends. They charge you by the pound for everything you pick. They also have a small farmer’s market stand where they sell local fruit, vegetables, and jams.

Terhune Orchards

Terhune Orchards is a family-owned and operated 250 acre farm in Princeton, NJ. You can pick a variety of fruit and flowers such as peaches, berries, cherries, apples, and pumpkins. Their peach season is from July through September and they have a variety of 28 yellow and white peaches.

Terhune Orchards is one of the few operating family farms in the Garden State to also have a winery and tasting room. Throughout the year, they have wine and live music events.

They also have a farm store that is open year-round where you can find a variety of fruit and vegetables, baked goods including their apple cider donuts and pies, locally sourced gourmet food, flowers, plants, and their own award winning wine.

Melick’s Town Farm

Melick’s Town Farm has two locations: Califon Orchards in Califon, NJ and Cider Mill and Orchard in Oldwick, NJ.

Melick’s Town Farm has fresh peaches for picking in July, August, and September at the Califon Orchard. They have over 5,000 peach trees and grow different peach varieties. You can find over 30 types of white and yellow peaches. Throughout the year, you can also pick your own apples, pears, and pumpkins.

At the Cider Mill and Orchard location, you can pick your own apples. They also press their own fresh apple cider, hard cider, and apple wine.

Their Oldwick Farm Market features seasonal fruit and vegetables from their farm. They sell their own hard cider, apple wine, jams, baked goods, gifts and country store favorites. In the fall, you will find a great variety of pumpkins and fall decorations. During the holiday season, they also sell Christmas trees and wreaths.

Johnson’s Corner Farm

Johnson’s Corner Farm is located in Medford, NJ. They are a great u-pick farm and have fun family activities throughout the year.

Their peach season is from June through August. In the summer, you can also pick blueberries, sweet corn, and string beans. They also have beautiful sunflowers.

Throughout the year, their fun family activities that you can attend are farm tour hayrides, Easter egg hunts, and holiday activities like s’mores and gingerbread cookie decorating.

Tips for Peach Picking in New Jersey

  • Check the Farm’s Website: Before your visit, check the farm’s own website or social media for the latest updates and information on peach availability and picking conditions.
  • Wear Comfortable Clothing and Shoes: Since you will be walking through the orchards on most of the farms, make sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
  • Bring Your Own Container: Some farms may provide containers for peach picking, but it’s a good idea to bring your own basket or bag to ensure you can carry your peaches home.
  • Follow Farm Guidelines: Respect the rules and guidelines set byt eh farm such as where to pick, payment procedures and any specific protocols.
  • Have Fun: Enjoy your time with your family and friends and make sure to have fun peach picking in New Jersey!
